Camel City Elite Races 2021

Per event director Craig Longhurst, the Camel City Elite are a go for 2021.  In an email dated 1/13/2021, Longhurst announced a decision has been made to move the date of Camel City back by two weeks and hold the meet on February 19-20 with the elite races to be held on Saturday, February 20.  All of the other meets on the JDL Fast Track calendar have been canceled EXCEPT for Camel City.

Additional details were laid out in an earlier email from Longhurst as follows:

"The bad news is that due to Covid-19, we currently cannot have any spectators in the facility for any of our meets.  Frankly, I can’t see that changing between now and February 6 (the date of this year’s event).  Additionally, there will obviously be no Friday athlete autograph signing or a Saturday night post-race dinner. 

But our goal is still to serve these athletes by offering a prize money race for them to continue to chase their dreams.  Many of their prize money opportunities vanished in 2020, so we are trying to make 2021 a better year for them.  We have heard from nearly all of our past corporate sponsors, and everyone from whom we have heard is still planning to support us this year.  So, we are excited to announce that we will be able to offer the same prize money as in years past!

 I know that it won’t be the same without everyone in the building, but I still wanted to send a note to offer a way to support the event.  If you would like to support the event with a $100 tax-deductible donation, we will send you this year’s new Camel City t-shirt design and bib.  We are also working with RunnerSpace to get everyone access to watch the live stream on race day.
